If, during the life of the product, you feel a defect has developed, let me know and we'll work something out.
Q: What type of finish is used on the shaving brush products?
A: The majority of wood products are finished with Cyanoacrylate Glue (i.e., superglue), which has been polished to a high gloss sheen. I also use Tung Oil on products where a satin finish is desired.
Q: What type of Badger hair is used on the brushes?
A: I primarily use Silvertip Badger. I also use Finest Grade, Best Badger, Black Badger, Pure Badger, Synthetic Badger and Boar. The Badger knots are imported directly from China. They are high quality dense knots, which are made to my specifications (i.e., loft, etc.)
Q: How do you care for a Badger Shaving Brush?
A: The Cyanoacrylate finish I use on woods is extremely durable and will hold up to regular use for a long time. This is a shaving brush and it's meant to get wet. The finish cannot be penetrated by water but on the other hand the brush should not be totally submerged in water either. Wipe dry after each use.
Like any wood product, if you leave water on the finish it will leave a white water mark or stain. For this reason, I highly recommend you have a brush stand, so the brush head will face down after each use.
If you are unfortunate enough to get a water stain on your brush, I can probably buff the stain out if the brush is returned to me. I will do this once for free but you are responsible for return postage.
Q: What is Tru-Stone?
A: Tru-Stone is a man-made product of ground up stone (85%), pigments and glue. It's a beautiful and durable products. Tru-Stone products are much heavier than wood products.
Q: How long does it take to get a custom brush made?
A: If the base material is in stock, 7-10 days.
Q: Do Badger brushes shed?
A: Yes, they all shed a little. Most sheding will stop after the first 30 days of continous use. If you feel your brush sheds too much, let me know and I will take care of it. Shedding is a part of a natural hair product, so try not to be paranoid if the brush loses a few hairs.
Q: Does the Badger brush smell?
A: Yes, the smell is normally described as a "wet dog" smell. It will go away with time but you can speed that process up by using shampoo to clean the brush hairs.
Q: What precautions should I take with my Badger Brush?
A: Don't use a wood brush in the shower.
Don't drop your brush on a hard surface.
Don't leave a wood brush in direct sunlight to dry.
Don't leave water on your brush after use.
Don't use any chemicals to clean or break-in the brush.
